Hosted and curated by “dazzlingly funny” local comedian and author Paul Kerensa, you are in for an evening full of laughs to the point of aching sides – possible because you’re clutching books freshly signed by the acts!
Love comedy? Love books? Quite like either/both? Then join the finest (and available!) UK stand-ups – who are also sit-down authors – as they bring you jokes and routines from shelf to stage.
The line-up includes stand-up mathematician Matt Parker who is a regular on Radio 4’s Infinite Monkey Cage and tours with Festival of the Spoken Nerd. His new book, Humble Pi: A Comedy of Maths Errors is all about maths going wrong in the real world and will be launched at this show.
Award-winning comic Rosie Wilby has appeared on Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour, ITV’s Good Morning Britain and at Latitude Festival. Her book Is Monogamy Dead? was shortlisted for the Diva Literary Awards, longlisted for the Polari First Book Prize 2018 and followed her TEDx talk of the same name.
“Charmingly funny” Aidan Goatley has toured his acclaimed show ’10 Films with My Dad’ across the world, including Dubai, Istanbul and throughout Europe. Its script is included in his new book of collected writings Never Eat the Buffet at a Sex Club, which he’s keen to add contains no sex and no food either, but is very funny.
Paul Kerensa, as well as hosting the event, will be talking about his latest offering, Hark! The Biography of Christmas.
All comics will perform a stand-up set followed by a good chat (and plug!) about their books.
Be entertained and perhaps educated, although that is not guaranteed! The show will be at The Back Room of The Star Inn, Guildford on Saturday 9 March. Tickets are on sale now! To book your place, please call 01483 361101 or BOOK HERE
