UNDER the brilliant guidance of their musical director and vocal coach Peter Roberts, enjoy a vibrant evening concert from The Big Group Sing on Friday, September 29 in the Back Room of The Star Inn.

The Big Group Sing cover a wide range of musical genres ranging from Musical Theatre to Jazz, Pop and Classical, and this evening’s concert will include songs from their ever-growing repertoire, performed by 25 singers under the direction of Peter Roberts.

Peter is a well-established vocal coach and musical director at the Guildford School of Acting.  He also teaches at the Sylvia Young Theatre School and has taught at most leading drama Schools.  Many of his students are currently working in theatre, television and film.

The Big Group Sing is a Farncombe-based weekly group singing class for adults, established in 2015 by actor Joel Llufrio, who trained on the Guildford School of Acting on the Musical Theatre course.

Joel explains: “I wanted to create an opportunity for people to experience singing on a more professional level.  Working with someone as accomplished as Peter means we never use backing tracks, and each week we learn about four songs from varying genres.  By the end of the two-hour class each song will be sounding fabulous with harmonies, vocal dynamics and technical detail.

“Everyone involved in the performance is really excited to be a part of the Guildford Fringe End of Summer Season.  The BGS wasn’t originally set up as a performance group but it’s a wonderful opportunity to showcase some of the exciting material which we have learnt over the last few weeks.”

The evening will feature a Duke Ellington medley, Karl Jenkins’ Benedictus, a Ragtime medley, several numbers from contemporary Musical Theatre – and Joel’s personal favourite, Run, which was a huge hit for Snow Patrol and Leona Lewis.

Join the Big Group Sing for a night of musical memories – and a few surprises too!
