Guildford Fringe Theatre Company LTD are looking for a PRODUCTION AND OFFICE ASSISTANT to join their busy office to work alongside the management team.

Guildford Fringe Theatre Company LTD was established in 2012 by Nick Wyschna and is now looking for a new team member to help grow the business. GFTC is a diverse company which primary produces theatrical productions, Guildford Fringe Festival and comedy clubs but also provides staff for events all over the UK and provides PR and design for other businesses.

The company includes: Guildford Fringe Theatre Company, Guildford Fringe Festival, Guildford Fringe Performing Arts, Gag House Comedy Clubs and Theatrical Marketing.

This is a position full of variety and the successful applicant will be turning their hand to a plethora of jobs.

Salary £20,000 – £22,000 for a 37.5 hour week

REPORTS TO: Managing Director and Management Team

LOCATION: 1D Merrow Business Park, Guildford GU4 7WA


CONTRACT: Permanent with 6-month probationary period

MAIN FUNCTION OF JOB: To be a key member of our small team, providing general support and assistance to the general management/production team.

Job Title:Production and Office Assistant

PERSON SPECIFICATION:The candidate will be ready to take the next step in their career in theatre with a good working knowledge of the theatre and arts industries. They will be confident taking on responsibility and be a strong team player who can motivate themselves. They will be flexible and willing to step in at the last minute when required.

Essential for applicant:

  • Highly organised and efficient, with the ability to think ahead and take initiative
  • A fast learner
  • The ability to multi-task effectively under pressure, prioritising across numerous productions & deadlines
  • A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • A clear and effective communicator across all media
  • Flexibility, reliability & enthusiasm
  • Excellent computing & IT skills
  • Willingness to work outside of normal hours when required

Other skills that would be an advantage (but not compulsory):

  • Relevant professional experience in a production or general management office
  • Any experience in basic video editing
  • Any experience in basic poster and flyer design


  • Providing front of house management at events including front of house announcements
  • Actively contributing to a collaborative, friendly & supportive office environment
  • Event management
  • Event hosting
  • Sourcing staff for events across the UK
  • Uploading events to events websites
  • Uploading events to the company’s websites
  • Creating social media events
  • Uploading social media content to our programming software (training available)
  • Supporting the management team with planning of casting & training of productions and staff
  • Assisting the management team in monitoring all aspects of production requirements
  • Working as a production runner for in-house and out-of-house events
  • Attending promotional and networking events to represent the company
  • To provide holiday cover for other team members, following up on all time sensitive tasks as directed
  • Proof reading for print or publicity (including online)
  • General office admin
  • Following up queries and concerns
  • General venue liaison
  • Q&As, meet & greets, backstage tours
  • Working at and arranging press nights and other events
  • Any other reasonable duties required to assist the General Manager, Production Coordinator or production office.

Marketing Assistance

  • Content creation logistics and organisation with CSM and marketing teams
  • Participation in regular marketing meetings
  • Ensuring programmes, flyers, brochures and posters go to print on time
  • Proof reading for print or publicity (including online)
  • Contribution of marketing ideas
  • If able, designing online and print marketing material

About you: 

  • To have an understanding of child performance regulations & safeguarding (you will be trained in this as well to fit in with our Child Protection Policy
  • Proven experience working with a range of different professionals and creative individuals at all levels.
  • MUST have a driving license
  • Have a knowledge of the Theatre and Arts industry
  • Have excellent written & communication skills
  • Excellent eye for detail
  • Enthusiastic, positive, creative and be willing to learn
